Chapter 13 bankruptcy — debt reorganization/consolidation
Under Chapter 13 bankruptcy a wage earner's debts are reorganized under a plan that will allow the debtor to pay creditors off in three to five years. When you have filed a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, your debts will be consolidated and you will make a monthly payment to the bankruptcy trustee appointed by the court.
Can I keep my car and house through Chapter 13 bankruptcy?
Debts that cannot be discharged through Chapter 7 may be reorganized through Chapter 13. You will be able to keep your car, house and other property from foreclosure. Often we can even get rid of your second mortgage leaving only the first.
Will filing a Chapter 13 bankruptcy stop creditor harassment?
As soon you have filed your Chapter 13 bankruptcy, your creditors will be notified, and the harassing phone calls and other debt collection activity will stop.
